There could be a few reasons, let’s try and help you.
First you need to make sure your device is up to date. Go to Settings > System > System update. If an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to install it before trying Google Pay again.
Next go to the Google Wallet app and tap on your card, there will be a message above your card. It could be one of the following:
- Hold to reader – This means your card is ready to tap and pay.
- Card not set up – Tap ‘finish set up’ and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Contactless disabled – Your phone either doesn’t support Near Field Communication (NFC) or has it switched off. You must have NFC switched on to make contactless payments. Go to Settings > Connected devices (or Connections) > NFC. Toggle the switch to On.
If the message advises that your card has been ‘suspended’ then you’ll need to contact us.
