Our story started back in 1880. The business that became Vanquis was founded in Bradford by Joshua Kelley Waddilove, a preacher and insurance agent. He created a system of vouchers for essentials like clothing and coal, repayable in weekly instalments.
Fast forward nearly a century and a half and much has changed. Today Vanquis serves over 1.7 million borrowers and savers in the UK.
But while we may be a bank, we still see ourselves as different from the traditional high street banks. We’re a bank that’s in your corner and this comes out in a number of ways…
For starters, we don’t demand you have the best credit score or the biggest bank balance. We lend to a much wider range of customers than the high street banks. And we put lots of work into making our credit cards easy to apply for and simple to manage through our app.
On top of that, we aim to help everyone grow their savings, even if you only have a little money to tuck away. We have accounts for first-timers as well as seasoned savers. It’s not an exclusive club.
Plus, we’re the only UK bank offering a free app, Snoop, that can help you control your spending, track your credit score, cut your bills and build your savings. And it’s open to everyone – no need to borrow or save with us.
