Helen’s story
Finding independence after a difficult year.
Helen* recently found herself navigating credit on her own for the first time. After being widowed, she needed a reliable way to travel the 20 miles to and from work. Her old car had broken down and she knew another car would not cope with the mud and rough farm tracks she uses every day.
She wanted a small van that was practical, efficient and easy to handle. Having driven a Volkswagen Transporter before, she knew it was exactly what she needed. It was the right size for her work equipment and had space for Fred, her lively Labrador, along with the two elderly terriers who occasionally join her on shorter trips.
Buying her first vehicle alone felt intimidating, but Helen told us the process felt surprisingly smooth. The van has become a lifeline for her family too, allowing her to help her grown up children with errands, pick-ups and house moves.
