Charlotte's story
Turning past challenges into long-term financial strength.
Charlotte*, who works for her local council, remembers how difficult her relationship with credit was when she became a mum more than twelve years ago. At one point she had five credit cards. Today she has paid off most of them and has a clear plan to repay the final two.
Her new job, which increased her income by £3,500 last year, has helped her move forward with confidence. She hopes to finish clearing her debts and then begin saving at a higher level. She has also passed her learning on to her teenage children and encourages them to value and resell the things they own.
“I set aside a daily budget. I add up how much my bills cost for the month, subtract that amount, and then divide what is left across seven days so I know what my daily spend can be.”
Charlotte now feels firmly in control of her finances and proud of the progress she has made.
“Charlotte” is a pseudonym.
